The Indian armed forces, with a strength of over 1.3 million, is the fourth-largest Army in the world. Since India's independence, it has undergone a regular conversion in its intensity, operational ability, and Army's role (Parihar, 2022). Indian Army was associated with the British armed forces in various military operations, maintaining internal security through its dedication and decisiveness. Indian Army today is one of the most potent combat powers, aiming to safeguard India's interest against any internal or external danger. The formation of the Army started at the beginning of world war second (Parihar, 2022). The intensity of the forces had increased from six hundred thousand (6,00000) to 2.5 million at the time of the war. Nevertheless, the looming independence of India forced to follow British apathy to armed forces, resulting in an extreme elimination of the workforce and a reduction of logistics and arms facilities. The parliament of Great Britain passed 'The 1947 Indian Independence Act' (Parihar, 2022) on July 5, 1947, to separate British India into two new independent territories, India and Pakistan. On July 18, 1947, the act obtained Royal Accent. The objective of the article is to know about the Indian Army since India's independence.
